At 50 years old, Hello Kitty is as sweet and friendly as ever. In honor of the feline's 50th birthday bash, one ice cream chain in Japan is scooping adorable delectables that make nostalgia taste better than ever.
Via Oricon, Sanrio and Baskin-Robbins are teaming up this November for a birthday that fans of Hello Kitty -- and their tastebuds -- won't soon forget. Featuring different sweet treats and even collectibles, the collaboration is hitting Japan in a matter of days. Taking a look back at the different designs for the Sanrio mascot throughout the years, the tasty event will only be around until the end of the year, so fans in Japan should hurry and get their fill before this celebration melts.
Hello Kitty and India's péro release a new clothing collection, combining "exquisite Indian craftsmanship" and "Japanese Harajuku street style."
Beginning on Nov. 1, 2024, the Hello Kitty x 31 Ice Cream Collaboration will unite the flavors of Baskin-Robbins with the cute Sanrio character. There will be two phases for her birthday, with the first of these lasting from Nov. 1 to Nov. 20 and the second, from Nov. 21 to Dec. 26. One of these new items is the Hello Kitty Birthday Double Cup, which features a retro Hello Kitty design and allows patrons to select from two ice creams and enjoy them at once along with a bow-shaped chocolate. The prices are the Small Double for 510 yen (US$3.36) and the Regular Double for 760 yen (US$5), although options for $4.34 and $5.99, respectively, come with a Hello Kitty charm.
Another option is the delicious Hello Kitty Birthday Apple Pie Sundae with Fluffy Sleeve with Hello Kitty’s Face Design (1,350 yen/US$8.80), which covers ice cream and pie pieces in a mouthwatering apple sauce, complete with a cup that can be adorned with a sleeve of Hello Kitty's face. However, the most bang for a Sanrio fan's yen can be purchased through the Hello Kitty Birthday Set, which comes in a Small option for 2,800 yen/US$18.42 and a Regular size for 3,500 yen/US$23.03. Containing eight cups of selected ice cream flavors, the set comes in a Hello Kitty-themed box and even contains a blanket featuring the cat's designs from over the years.
These are all part of the first period of the Hello Kitty x 31 Ice Cream Collaboration, with details coming soon on what the end of the year will bring. It's also one of just several releases celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty, with the mascot seeing numerous new products and collaborations across the country and globe.
