Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Releases Fall 2023

Sep 19, 2023

During the PlayStation Showcase, Metal Gear Solid Delta was revealed, emerging as a remake of the iconic PlayStation 2-era title, MGS3: Snake Eater. But, moments later, Konami also lifted the lid on the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, which is a remastered collection featuring MGS, MGS2, and MGS3.

It was stated that this collection – which has surfaced in the past on older platforms – will be released in the Fall of 2023. It was also made clear that it's ‘Volume 1’, meaning that there are more collections to come – we just don't know as of yet what they’ll be.

As Konami revealed the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, it confirmed that it’ll be appearing ‘on the latest platforms’. It's assumed that these platforms will be Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC – but there are fans already pleading for the collection to be released on the Nintendo Switch.

This is far from being the first collection of Metal Gear Solid games to be released, though. In 2013, the MGS Legacy Collection was released on PlayStation 3, bringing every MGS game up until that point (more or less) to PS3.

Before that, in 2011, the MGS HD Collection surfaced, again bringing a wide variety of Metal Gear games – including MGS2 and MGS3 – to modern consoles with an HD twist. It was made available on PS3, Xbox 360, and PlayStation Vita.

Now, an all-new collection has surfaced: the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection.

In a statement from Konami, it was said:

We will deliver the METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION series, the most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th anniversary of the series. The METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION allows fans to play the games as they were, as first released on the latest platforms.

So, are we all excited to replay the Metal Gear Solid series once again?
